salas party of two

DJ and I met seven years ago, while I was a senior in high school, and he was a first-year intern at my youth group. I'll tell our story another time... But I can assure you it's a good one ;)

You know how it goes - first comes love, then comes marriage... So here's some favorite moments from our first day of married life. Our wedding forever holds a very special place in my heart. We got married in the Redwoods of California near the coast by Half Moon Bay. It was a very cold and rainy late-May day, but we wouldn't have had it any other way. Over a year later and I still get emotional looking through our photos, reliving the moments (especially with our little love in my tum).

We had an absolutely amazing photographer, who flew all the way out from Seattle to capture our day. Check out her recent work here: Lena Peterson Photography

What I love most about our wedding day is that just about every piece was handmade by family, friends or ourselves. We had a very small budget (and short engagement) and did very little "traditional." We had a first look on the beach, morning ceremony, breakfast made my some incredible friends, a pancake cake, and ended up in a beanie and leather jacket... I love the quirks and I love that so many people were part of making our day so sweet.

Florals were done by our Uncle and myself, my dress was handmade (for under $300) from a shop on etsy (that doesn't exist anymore, so sad!), and the site we found had that picnic area perfectly set up with long wooden tables for our reception. We had a coffee bar and donut holes upon arrival for our guests, as our location was about 3 hours away from most. We planned an early wedding with the intention of giving our guests the rest of the day to explore the woods and coast.
